One day, science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light-years from home, with no memory of who he is or how he got there. As his memory slowly returns, he begins to uncover his mission: to solve the mystery of the strange substance causing the sun to die. He must use his scientific knowledge and unconventional ideas to save all life on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship may mean he doesn’t have to do it alone. Project Hail Mary is based on Andy Weir’s novel of the same name. Weir also wrote The Martian, which was adapted into a 2015 film. Directors Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, known for 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie, later wrote the screenplay for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its sequels.
