The award winner from Göteborg film festival
After Maria Sødahl's last film Hope, which was sold to over 30 countries and shortlisted for an Oscar, she now comes out with a razor-sharp reflection of today's society with The Last Resort. Mikkel and Louise go on an all-inclusive holiday to Gran Canaria with their daughters, where they enjoy sunny days in the holiday paradise, but in parallel a completely different reality is taking place. Boat refugees arrive on the island in search of a better life. When the family accidentally runs over a stranger, their moral compass is challenged. Good intentions have unexpected consequences, and they are faced with difficult dilemmas. When they get involved, their values are put to the test: how far will you go to be a good person and what are you willing to give?
