What happens when your loved ones haunt you in the form of a vaccum cleaner

In this hilarious Thai film, which balances comedy with heavy drama and dark themes, we meet March, who is grieving the death of his wife Nat, who recently passed away due to dust pollution.

He discovers that her spirit has returned by owning a vacuum cleaner. His family, disturbed by a ghost that appeared after a worker died and closed their factory, reject their unconventional relationship between humans and ghosts. Nat tries to convince them of their love and offers to clean the factory. To become a useful ghost, she must first get rid of the useless ones.

Behind its comedic facade, the film explores death and love, where actions against the living and the dead have unintended consequences.

The film had its worldpremiere in Cannes film festival in 2025 and won the Grand Prix in the Critics week section.

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 86% of 44 critics' reviews are positive. The website's consensus reads: "Putting a bracingly unique spin on poltergeists, A Useful Ghost is a refreshing genre-bender that distinguishes debut writer-director Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke as a filmmaker to watch."[
