Daniel Christopher Wootton’s latest documentary film will premiere at the Stavanger Film Festival. Director Daniel, producer Kristian Landmark, and the film’s main subject Kyrre Waag will attend the red carpet.

– We’re very happy to present Land of the Unexpected at the festival. It tells an incredible story, and I’m sure our audience will appreciate this entertaining and remarkable journey that the film has become, says festival and program director Tonje Hardersen.

– I think most of us, at one time or another, have had an unlikely dream. This is the story of a man who chooses to bet everything on exactly such a dream—whatever the cost. For me, it’s both liberating and deeply fascinating. I’m very proud to have Land of the Unexpected selected for screening. This is a film about dreams, and for me, having my debut film shown at the Norwegian Film Festival is a dream come true. I’m really looking forward to the screening in Stavanger! says director Daniel Christopher Wootton.

Land of the Unexpected

Norwegian Kyrre Waag drops out of economics studies, says goodbye to all prospects of a stable future, and instead decides to start the world’s biggest band. When this band, Naked Koala, releases the song “Right with Me,” responses start pouring in. Most of them come from the country of Papua New Guinea.

Land of the Unexpected follows Kyrre on his journey toward his dream of performing in front of thousands of people at a stadium concert in the island nation. The film is a wild and beautiful love story about the unexpected paths life can take us on, and about an unlikely meeting between people from two very different cultures on opposite sides of the planet. And above all, it’s a tribute to what may be the most universal language we have: music.
